A disappointing escape from paradise
The fine view from the balcony took my breath away, making it hard to forget the challenges inside the hotel.
Unfortunately, the maze-like hallways led me to a dirty room with moldy showers and an unwelcoming staff.

The breakfast is savoury with freshly squeezed juices, had good food. It has well organized and professional staff...

Ideal old-fashioned place with particularly good location close enough to the city centre and beach, the local bus stop and " main areas ". Friendly service throughout the hotel. Very clean pool.

The view from our room was amazing, but the
Rest of the experience didn't quite match up. The location was ideal for exploring Positano, yet the steep walk back up was tiring. Cleanliness issues and slow service at the restaurant detracted from our stay.

The location of the room was top. The view into the bay of Positano amazing. The interior design was very generous, there were two levels in the room and of course a balcony. The hotel complex is beautifully built in the mountain. The location of the hotel complex is breathtaking but one should be aware that Positano with its numerous stairs gets a very special flair. All in all, the hotel is highly recommended.

Good location, nice breakfast on the terrace
Hotel is somewhat outdated, bathroom is very small for a family room

Would recommend for a weekend pause.
Comfortable room, fine view, with a good restaurant offering a huge breakfast buffet and a convenient bus stop right outside for easy exploration.
It was all superb.

Amazing views - especially from rooms with terraces
A lot of steps involved getting to/from the town/beach - not a problem as long as you are prepared for some walking. Views make it worth it

They have many rooms for nice ocean views. Also, dedicated parking lot for the hotel, which is not common in that area, was available. The clerks in the front desk were mostly nice except a few cases.
Even though I sent an e-mail asking to reserve an ocean view room because my family was arriving late, all the ocean view rooms were out when we arrived at the hotel at around 11pm. The hotel arranged an ocean view room from the next day. Anyhow, if my family had stayed there for one night, we could have not had the chance to stay in the ocean view room.

Towels smelled like vinegar, but the pool was enjoyable and spacious. Wouldn't go back.

The hotel was very clean, most staff were polite. The views of Positano from the sea view room and bar were amazing. The grounds and pool were well maintained.
The beds are very hard and lumpy. The air conditioning didn't work. The tv only picked up Italian channels and regularly stopped working. Some of the staff did not speak English. There were far to many rules for pool users (must wear swimming hats and pay for them, no drinks allowed apart from ones purchased at the bar). The food and drink was expensive.

The royal hotel has an excellent location at the top, offering amazing views. It's a bit of a walk to the beach, but you get to explore charming alleyways along the way. The complimentary wifi was a nice touch, too.

The front desk personnel were very helpful and supportive, especially Gabriella who helped be before our trip and during our stay. The sea view is also worth the trip. Fortunately we arrived late the first night and were referred to a nearby Trotteria, where we ate 4 of the 5 nights we stayed there and received excellant food at reasonable prices and with terrific service.
However, I would guess that the restaurant staff were a seperate catering company as they were rude, non responsive and spoke only to the Italian guests while ignoring the English speaking guests. The food was over priced and poorly prepared.

Staff was incredible. Especially the wait staff and spa operators. All were very personable. Hotel beautiful. Breathtaking views from terrace during breakfast. Best breafast we've had in Italy. Would love to visit them again.
